LYRICS If there’s a start, there’ll be an end You can’t deny, you can’t pretend The shadows fall, the light grows dim There’s no way out, no way to win The music stops The curtain drops As the ending starts to begin There’s no debate There’s no escape There’s just no way that we can win Seductive web, a deadly trap Once were in there’s no way back We all know when we begin It all must end, that time will win There is no rhyme, no reason why Ours is just to do and die The music stops The curtain drops As the ending starts to begin There’s no debate There’s no escape There’s just no way that we can win Seductive web, a deadly trap Once were in there’s no way back Enticing, appealing The moment is fleeting Beguiling, misleading The spider needs feeding A sudden chill A bitter pill As the ending starts to begin Struggle in vain Nothing will change There’s just no way that we can win Your fate’s been sealed, be in no doubt Once were in there’s no way out The music stops The curtain drops As the ending starts to begin There’s no debate There’s no escape There’s just no way that we can win Seductive web, a deadly trap Once were in there’s no way back

LYRICS With the web’s that I’ve woven And the yarns I have spun Battles I’ve fought And battles I’ve won It’s just who I am It’s just what I do In just being me I know I hurt you We’re all set on our path by the gods We carry the cost It’s just in my nature to nurture The way that I do You know that its true And of all the people I’ve hurt I promise I never meant to hurt you Deceptively fragile The beauty within Those innocent eyes Beckon you in You know nobody chooses which one of us loses // everyone loses nobody’s free it’s just meant to be It’s just in my nature to nurture The way that I do You know that its true And of all the people I’ve hurt I promise I never meant to hurt you It’s just the way that it is The way that it was and the way that it always will be When the saint becomes sinner The loser the winner We both know my friend some things are just meant to be Its just in my nature to nurture The way that I do You know that its true And of all the people I’ve hurt I promise I never meant to hurt you

about

The Ballad of the Bee is a song about inevitability. You’re tempted and before you know it you’re trapped. You struggle valiantly but in vain; you can only delay the inevitable outcome. The song features fuzzy guitars, pounding drums, and punk vocals - a direct injection of punk music.

We wrote the song after witnessing a Bee becoming entwined in a spider’s web. The more it struggled, the more the web tightened. There was nothing it – or we - could do. It continued to resist but the way the incident would end was never in doubt; it was only a matter of time. It was such an obvious and powerful metaphor.

There are, of course, two sides to every story and while the song is written from the perspective of the Bee, we subsequently wrote Arachne’s Response – the spider’s telling their side of the story. Ironically, this too is a song about inevitability; it wasn’t personal, it was just meant to be.
