The spider was hungry. He’d spun a particularly intricate web that morning and seemed to have waited forever for the struggling bee to finally give up the ghost.
It was a veritable feast! He wasn’t always fortunate enough to trap a bee – on many occasions he had to make do with a collection of flies and bugs. In fact, it almost seemed a shame to eat such a magnificent creature, but, when all said and done, spiders had to eat.
Feeling full and re-energised, the spider, gently left what little remained of his victim and, without a sound, slowly made his way back to the corner of the garden, to where the potting shed met the fence. For a brief moment, he hesitated and looked to the sky … before reminding himself, it was just the way it was …and he began to weave.
There’s always two sides to the story, and Arachne’s Response was written to reflect that. A meditative reflection on inevitably and human nature; it wasn’t personal, it was just meant to be.

LYRICS
With the web’s that I’ve woven
And the yarns I have spun
Battles I’ve fought
And battles I’ve won
It’s just who I am
It’s just what I do
In just being me
I know I hurt you
We’re all set on our path by the gods
We carry the cost
It’s just in my nature to nurture
The way that I do
You know that its true
And of all the people I’ve hurt
I promise
I never meant to hurt you
Deceptively fragile
The beauty within
Those innocent eyes
Beckon you in
You know nobody chooses
which one of us loses // everyone loses
nobody’s free
it’s just meant to be
It’s just in my nature to nurture
The way that I do
You know that its true
And of all the people I’ve hurt
I promise
I never meant to hurt you
It’s just the way that it is
The way that it was
and the way that it always will be
When the saint becomes sinner
The loser the winner
We both know my friend
some things are just meant to be
Its just in my nature to nurture
The way that I do
You know that its true
And of all the people I’ve hurt
I promise
I never meant to hurt you
Check out our good friend Lily's EP for when you're not sure what you want to listen to, coz it has a habit of hitting the spot in unexpected and strange ways. The Kelly Line
Ducking Punches make some of the best new punk music coming out of the UK right now. Their older stuff is a bit more the vibe we try to play (VIVA LA ACOUSTIC GUITAR), but Alamort is just so good. The Kelly Line
Michelle Zauner is one of the most consitently creative people out there. She used to play in indie-rock band Little Big League, but now makes insanely eclectic music under Japanese Breakfast. The Kelly Line
