Sure As Hell Not Through is first and foremost a defiant song. Although it was written a while back it seems entirely appropriate for the current context.
It’s an optimistic song – I’m sure as hell not through / not ready to surrender/ I’m a dreamer / still a believer … And a call to arms - Won’t you be too?
There comes a time when the fires that burned so brightly within begin to flicker and fade. Maybe we learn to live with injustice and acknowledge our fate and place in the pecking order, accepting that great things don’t happen to people like us. This song is a reminder that we don’t have to, that we’re not through yet and we don’t have to just wait for shit to happen to us – the best way to defend is to attack.
Best served loud.

LYRICS
When I get to thinking that I really should know better
Something stirs down deep inside and I can’t help but remember
The days when I was full of youth and still a promising contender
And I find myself believing I’m not ready to surrender
Somebody once told me the best way to defend,
Is to attack
So let’s fight back
Let’s hold hands
Let’s make a stand
But better yet,
Let’s make damned sure
That we will give
As good as we get
I’m a rebel, idealist, poetic extremist
Won’t you be too?
I’m a fighter, a dreamer, I’m still a believer
I’m sure as hell not through
Perhaps I should know better after years of disappointment
Of set-backs and rejections, all those nearlys but not quite’s
But a life of stoic calm acceptance and of silent acquiescence
Is coming to an end here tonight
Somebody once told me the best way to defend,
Is to attack
So let’s fight back
So here tonight
Let’s stand and fight
With no regrets
Let’s make dammed sure
That we give
As good as we get
I’m a rebel, idealist, poetic extremist
Won’t you be too?
I’m a fighter, a dreamer, I’m still a believer
I’m sure as hell not through
So to those of you who said we couldn’t
That it wasn’t meant to be
Not for the likes of you and me
Well, let me put the record straight cos frankly I’m inclined to disagree
I’m a rebel, idealist, poetic extremist
Won’t you be too?
I’m a fighter, a dreamer, I’m still believer
I’m sure as hell not through
I’m a rebel, idealist, poetic extremist
Won’t you be too?
I’m a fighter, a dreamer, I’m still believer
I’m sure as hell not through

Ducking Punches make some of the best new punk music coming out of the UK right now. Their older stuff is a bit more the vibe we try to play (VIVA LA ACOUSTIC GUITAR), but Alamort is just so good. The Kelly Line
Michelle Zauner is one of the most consitently creative people out there. She used to play in indie-rock band Little Big League, but now makes insanely eclectic music under Japanese Breakfast. The Kelly Line
