LYRICS The solitary glass slipper that never seemed to fit Topples into the abyss As we start to reminisce Now the melody of youth has lost its meaning The sun that casts no shadow, across a bloodshot sky I’m crying tears from just one eye The truth our only alibi The church bells fall silent as the rats start to leave As now we untangle the webs that we weave No one will notice and no one will grieve The more I find out the less I believe I’m caught between the crossfire, neither predator nor prey Whose commands do I obey As we await our judgment day Now the lady of the lake has stopped recruiting The people do the dancing, but the piper plays the tune Reaching deep into the womb Echoes round our empty tomb The time has come to choose but what we choosing The church bells fall silent as the rats start to leave As now we untangle the webs that we weave No one will notice and no one will grieve The more I find out the less I believe INSTRUMENTAL I don’t want to see my name on an unmarked grave I don’t want to live my life constantly afraid that it might end before it’s finished But Rome is still burning as hell’s fires freeze More questions than answers blow in on the breeze Time to decide which God to appease The more I find out the less I believe INSTRUMENTAL No one will notice and no one will grieve The more I find I find out the less I believe I don’t want to see my name on an unmarked grave

LYRICS As they queue on the catwalk to wear the emperors (new) clothes There’s a deafening silence behind a wall of white noise If the knave stole the tarts Then the tarts stole our hearts Another false prophet in a land time forgot Beneath your fur coat, where the bottom line’s concealed When the coat’s ripped away and the illusion’s revealed It’s just a mirage that glitters The old smoke and mirrors Another false prophet in a land time forgot Honeyed words, evil mind What you seek is what you find so just be careful what you wish for He took his country’s shilling Now we’re asking for it back Another false prophet in a land time forgot But when I gave you my palm, you just told me your fortune A silver-toungue promise, a thinly-veiled warning (camouflaged) Now you see him, now you don’t First he will then he won’t Just another false prophet in a land time forgot Honeyed words, evil mind What you seek is what you find so just be careful what you wish for He took his country’s shilling Now we’re asking for it back Another false prophet in a land time forgot INSTRUMENTAL Honeyed words, evil mind What you seek is what you find so just be careful what you wish for He took his country’s shilling Now we’re asking for it back Another false prophet in a land time forgot It’s just the storm before the storm But the light is deceiving There’s no rhyme nor reason Still searchin for meaning Another false prophet in a land time forgot

LYRICS Who will pay the ferryman for our rendezvous in hell? Have you got a soul to sell? Have you got a soul to sell that’s worth the selling? Who will pay the ferryman on the voyage of the damned? Blood is seeping through the sand Have you got a tale to tell that’s worth the telling? Who will cross the rubicon, the point of no return All our bridges burn When will we ever learn what we’ve been teaching? Who will cross the rubicon, the die forever-cast The first become the last The ghost of Christmas past resorts to stealing So let me ask you, what you selling for How much silver do you need to make it worth the price? So let me ask you, why do you want more How much silver makes it worth the sacrifice? And how much silver do you need to lead you to temptation And how much silver do you need to pay for your redemption How much silver do you need How much silver do you need To offer you salvation For you desecrate the memory, when you abdicate your throne We were born to die alone We will reap what we have sown, on that bright morning And in the final reckoning, when we tally up the score When the less becomes the more It is tempting to ignore, our mother’s warning What you sow is what you reap So mister, start your reaping Men ask why, as Satan smiles The angels gently weeping So let me ask you, what you selling for How much silver do you need to make it worth the price? So let me ask you, why do you want more How much silver makes it worth the sacrifice? So let me ask you, what you selling for How much silver do you need to make it worth the price? So let me ask you, why do you want more How much silver makes it worth the sacrifice?

LYRICS Tied to the future with the blood of the past you know that nothing can last there’ll be no questions asked so they’ll be no need for anyone to answer As I climb into the ring armed with only a smile think I’ve known for a while that it’s not me on trial Will anybody read the final chapter? I’ve learned enough to know i know nothing
Nothing worth knowing can ever be taught I’ve got enough to know I’ve got nothing
Nothing worth having can ever be bought  Don’t know how far we’re going or how far we’ve come There’s a line that we’re walking Like father and like son INSTRUMENTAL Resist the temptation to turn on the light Just let your eyes get used to the dark Resist the temptation to give up the fight When there’s no one to follow, follow your heart But when the wind starts to blow, hearts will be torn from the sleeve Words with no echo are lost on the breeze It’s a silent reprise, a timeless refrain We’re just walking the line, we’re just playing the game I’ve learned enough to know i know nothing
Nothing worth knowing can ever be taught
I’ve got enough to know I’ve got nothing Nothing worth having can ever be bought  Don’t know how far we’re going or how far we’ve come We’re just walking the line now Like father, like son Were just biding our time Two partners in crime We’re just walking the line now Like father, like son

Stop Digging 02:55
LYRICS Sometimes you’ve got to stop digging But it’s a slippery slope You say I gotta start listening I say I will but I won’t Sometimes you’ve got to stop digging it’s a slippery slope You ask me what was I thinking You know I can’t and I don’t I don’t recall any lessons At least non that I learned I was reaching out my hands But my fingers still got burned I’ve used up all my lives But nine was never enough I might still be surviving But I know time’s nearly up Sometimes you’ve got to stop digging But it’s a slippery slope You say I gotta start listening I say I will but I won’t Sometimes you’ve got to stop digging it’s a slippery slope You ask me what was I thinking You know I can’t and I don’t I know the cavalry ain’t coming I know I’m on my own I’m not making excuses I know I should have known You say I’ve gotta stop digging But I’ll need somewhere to lie I nod my head when you’re talking You know I won’t even try I haven’t reached rock bottom yet so I can’t stop digging Can I borrow just a little more time I haven’t reached rock bottom yet so I can’t stop digging I’m still not sure of what I’ll find You say I got to stop digging But I’m still in this rut You say I got to stop digging But there’s always a but You say I gotta stop digging It’s a slippery slope I’m not digging for victory I’m just burying hope Sometimes you’ve got to stop digging But it’s a slippery slope You say I gotta start listening I say I will but I won’t Sometime you’ve got to stop digging it’s a slippery slope You ask me what was I thinking You know I can’t and I don’t

LYRICS Pay day comes and what do you know Two hundred pounds for passing go They promise more but don’t say when Enough to send you round again I’m living life on a hamster’s wheel I stand in line, I walk to heel Two hundred notes is all that they give You won’t die but you can’t live A prisoner in my invisible gaol Sentenced to life, chasing my tail No bars on my cage Restrained by my wage I’m living my life on a hamster’s wheel They give you two but then take more Bond Street’s three and Mayfair’s four I’ve got Old Kent Road but want Park Lane Enough to send you round again No way off that I can see I’m chained to the economy Going round from meal to meal Living life on hamsters wheel A prisoner in my invisible gaol Sentenced to life, chasing my tail No bars on my cage Restrained by my wage I’m living my life on a hamster’s wheel And always behind me, the ominous threat Chased by the fat cat, hounded by debt Alarm bell slave From cradle to grave I’m living my life on hamster’s wheel A prisoner in my invisible gaol Sentenced to life, chasing my tail No bars on my cage Restrained by my wage I’m living my life on a hamster’s wheel

Seven Sins 03:56
LYRICS Princes in the evening Frogs by morning light Trip the light fantastic Creatures of the night Notches on the bedpost Dancing flames to keep me warm Home is where my hat gets laid Any shelter from the storm Seven sins in seven cities Forty days and forty nights Battle scars and souvenirs Just to win the bragging rights Seven sins in seven cities Send for twelve good men and true It’s a bitter pill to swallow But I’d leave it all for you Trouble in the garden Stealing apples from the tree Dancing with the devil Footloose and fancy free For every broken promise There’s a story to be told Gone before the sunrise All that glitters must be gold Seven sins in seven cities Forty days and forty nights Battle scars and souvenirs Just to win the bragging rights Seven sins in seven cities Send for twelve good men and true It’s a bitter pill to swallow But I’d leave it all for you Without the benefit of hindsight And with the innocence of youth With my hand across my heart I tell you nothing but the truth The truth, the truth, the whole truth I’ll Tell you nothing but the truth So let the poets tell their stories And the minstrels play their tunes Now the winds of change are blowing As the sun obscures the moon Seven sins in seven cities Forty days and forty nights Battle scars and souvenirs Just to win the bragging rights Seven sins in seven cities Send for twelve good men and true It’s a bitter pill to swallow But I’d leave it all for you Seven sins in seven cities Where the angels fear to tred Pulled by seventeen white horses Dressed in flowing robes of red Seven sins in seven cities Let the prophecy come true It’s a bitter pill to swallow But I’d leave it all for you
8.
LYRICS There’s a red sky at day break, the old shepherds warning Be sure not to follow a blind shadow walking Magenta moon rising, the black sands are calling Be sure not to listen when there’s nobody’s talking But if we all cried at once, would we put out the fire If we all told the truth, who’d be left as the liar And if we all looked ahead would we see what’s behind And if we knew where to look would we know what to find It was never yours to give Never your promise to make It was never yours Never your promise, never your promise to break And what do you say to the man who won’t listen What you show the man who won’t see What do you ask the man who won’t answer And how can you leave when he won’t let it be And where are you running to, what are you looking for And who are you hiding from, and how will you know for sure It was never yours to give Never your promise to make It was never yours Never your promise, never your promise to break INSTRUMENTAL We’ve always known how this will end But tell me how did it begin We’ve always known that we will lose But tell me who do you think will win And what shall we leave for our children to find an eye for an eye and the whole world is blind (for) there’ll be no trail of candy leading you home no shining white knight to pull the sword from the stone It was never yours to give Never your promise to make It was never yours Never your promise, never your promise to break What was never yours to give Can never be yours to take It was never yours Never your promise, never your promise to break credits

LYRICS The ladders and the snakes The set backs and the breaks Pick up straws along the way It’s the price we have to pay The straws begin to stack You’re the nut I couldn’t crack You’re the book I couldn’t read The straw I didn’t need It was just another straw But getting harder to ignore You know I’ve heard it all before A warning I must heed Another straw that I don’t need The straw that caused my back to bleed Don’t think I can take much more The promise you forgot The leopard kept it’s spots The heartbreak I once knew Get the sense of de ja vu You were the itch I couldn’t scratch Think I’ve finally met my match The straw that caused my back to bend The beginning of the end It was just another straw But getting harder to ignore You know I’ve heard it all before The dull and constant ache Not much more that I can take How many straws before I break? You’re just not worth fighting for It was just another straw But getting harder to ignore Getting harder to endure Just impossible to take Just impossible to fake The straw that caused my back to break You were just the final straw Simply can’t take any more You know I’ve heard it all before There was just too much at stake You were the straw that I couldn’t take The straw that caused my heart to break You’re just not worth fighting for - Any more

about

We were having a beer late one night and discussing how to follow up our 2017 album Cold Fire Burning. Do we work on another eclectic collection or do we focus on a particular sound? Do we go back to our roots and write some more acoustic, guy and guitar songs or do we write songs with a full band line up in mind? We’re very much aware that we write a wide range of songs; slow ballads, folk, folk rock, punk rock, classic rock…

…If we’re being honest, Mike would probably have gone with an acoustic collection and Ben would have plumped for more of a band project…

…Like Father, Like Son was Ben’s idea; a double EP featuring four acoustic tracks and four full band songs. It was a project deliberately designed to reflect the two extreme ends of our songwriting styles. We had another beer and agreed that, as Mike was particularly fond of acoustic music, he would take the creative lead on the acoustic tracks (these quickly became known as Like Father) while Ben would drive the band half of the project (Like Son).

11 months later and Like Father, Like Son is due for release. We hope you like it.
