This song was inspired by the situation it was born in - standing behind a till for the umpteenth hour that day, staring out at the shop floor, waiting for the moment when I could put on my coat, walk out that door, and head to the nearest show.
A lot of our songs are political in nature, looking outward to the world around us. This song looks a little more inward.
Sometimes a beat is all you need.

LYRICS
The drum beats like a heartbeat in your chest
Your heads on fire your souls at rest
Hear the tempo rise and your pulse rise up to meet it
Feel the air tense up in waves
I’ve had a long fucking day
Pressure builds
As the drum fill
Begins to pound faster until
A moment of calm
Some time to breath
The sigh
Before
The storm
Face to face and heart to heart
Almost touching, worlds apart
There is cleansing in The sweat, the sound, the screaming
The crash of cymbals tears the air
The roll of toms the crack of snare
The pressure builds
As the drum fill
Begins to pound faster until
A moment of calm
Some time to breath
The sigh
Before The storm
I wanna free myself and break the chains that bind me
Will you lend your voice and lose yourself and find me
Tomorrows round the corner
But tonight could last forever
We'll never know until it’s over
Feel the beating of the drum
Feel the beating of the drum
Feel the beating of the drum
Feel the beating of the drum
I wanna free myself and break the chains that bind me
Will you lend your voice and lose yourself and find me
I Wanna close my eyes and leave the world behind me
Will you come move with me and feel the beat inside me
Will you still be with me when the wave breaks and this all comes to an end

Ducking Punches make some of the best new punk music coming out of the UK right now. Their older stuff is a bit more the vibe we try to play (VIVA LA ACOUSTIC GUITAR), but Alamort is just so good. The Kelly Line
Michelle Zauner is one of the most consitently creative people out there. She used to play in indie-rock band Little Big League, but now makes insanely eclectic music under Japanese Breakfast. The Kelly Line
